The Academic Scholarships and Bursaries administered by Sheridan are designed to support current full-time students in various fields of study. Students are encouraged to review this list throughout the academic year.
Scholarships, Bursaries and Award
Scholarships, bursaries and awards are available to students enrolled in post-secondary programs at Sheridan
Scholarships are awarded based on criteria that may include academic achievement, community involvement, demonstrated leadership skills and financial need.
Bursaries are awarded based primarily on financial need although academic achievement and community involvement may be considered.
Sheridan presents over 600 Academic Awards to students demonstrating outstanding academic achievement. Faculty members nominate students for these awards which are presented annually at an awards ceremony. Students are notified by their faculty if they have been chosen as the recipient of an academic award.
The eligibility criteria vary for each award. In addition, external awards are available from sources outside Sheridan which may include corporate, private or community organizations.
Sheridan College would like to thank our generous donors for making these opportunities possible!

Your completed application will automatically identify any bursaries and scholarship opportunities for which you meet the eligibility criteria. A list of scholarship and bursary opportunities is located under the “Opportunities” link.
Sheridan bursaries and scholarships are usually posted at the beginning of each term and, once you have submitted your General Financial Aid Application, you will be notified of any new awards. External awards are updated as they are received so it’s important that you frequently review the opportunities.
Check our Scholarships page for available scholarships and bursaries.
You can apply to any bursary for which you meet the eligibility criteria. Interested applicants may view the criteria when applying to the specific award.
Depending on the requirements, applications often ask for letters of reference from Faculty and / or community members and / or individuals who are familiar with your accomplishments. Applicants should carefully review the application to ensure they are providing the correct information and / or supporting documentation.
Your application will be processed in roughly four to six weeks following the application deadline – though the length of time may vary depending on the volume of applications received.
Each bursary / scholarship has a set amount of money available to be awarded. All eligible applicants are screened against the criteria and the most qualified applicant is selected. An email will be sent to your Sheridan email account to inform you whether or not your application has been successful.
If successful, a bursary cheque will be sent to you at the home address you have provided to Sheridan. Therefore, you should check that all your contact information is up to date in myStudent Centre.
Unlike OSAP, you will not have to pay back any bursary or scholarship.
OSAP may be affected if a student receives significant financial assistance. When a bursary is received, students should update their OSAP information.
Awards are considered part of a student’s taxable income for the year. The college will issue T4A forms to all recipients in the spring of the year following the year in which the award was paid.
Sheridan College has joined the HigherEdPoints.com program as a Participating Institution. With this new partnership, students (or their parents or grandparents) are able to convert Aeroplan® Miles and/or TD Points into funds to help cover fees as well as pay off OSAP loans.
